The Kybalion is a short book published in Chicago in 1908 under the name “Three Initiates.” It claims to summarize ancient Hermetic teaching in seven principles.    The maxim: “Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates.”

   In plain English: Everything is in motion, and differences are often differences of rate or intensity. Change a state by shifting its rate, not by denying it.

4. The Principle of Polarity

   The maxim: “Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites … opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree.”

   The maxim: “Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall …”
