The Kybalion was published in Chicago in 1908 by the Yogi Publication Society under the byline “Three Initiates.” It presents seven principles said to explain operations of mind and cosmos.
A modern Hermetic work
Although it invokes ancient Hermetic authority, its vocabulary and emphasis reflect the New Thought and occult environment of the early twentieth century. It is not part of the ancient Corpus Hermeticum.
Its enduring appeal
The book compresses a worldview into memorable principles. Readers use them as lenses for reflection, self-command, analogy, and change. Its clarity helped make it one of the best-known modern introductions to Hermetic ideas.
